Thermal Domestic Hot Water Course

Our Training Centre delivers Logic’s solar thermal course which has been developed in response to the marked increase in sales of solar hot water systems and the entry in to the market of many of the leading heating manufacturers.
Course Objective:
To enable the candidates to confidently – propose, site survey,
design and install domestic or small commercial solar hot water systems,
enlisting manufacturers support where required. The course will cover
the predominant North European fluid filled, indirect solar water heating
systems. The course does not cover all possible variants of this subject.
The course covers the following main types of system and collector
types; fully filled sealed system, drain-back system, flat plate collector,
heat pipe and direct flow evacuated tube collectors.
Course Outline:

- Regulations and Standards
- Solar heated storage types
- Basic system design & integration
- Installation Materials & Methods
- Servicing and fault finding
- Collector types
- Solar primary system types
- Internal & external site surveys
- Filling & commissioning
Certification: Logic Certification
Duration: 2 Days including theory, practical and assessment.
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
Price: £497 + VAT (The course price includes examination entry fees, a choice of meals from our lunch menu and refreshments throughout the day.
Entry Requirements:
This course is
designed for experienced heating or plumbing professionals. Candidates
should hold G3 certificate in Unvented Hot Water Systems OR
be taking the 1-day course the day prior to (or immediately following)
this course. WRAS Water Regulations 1-day course is also recommended.
Basic electrical experience desirable.
Noted exclusion from training & assessment:
This course is not intended to cover roof or access work in detail but does cover
the legislative requirements, risk assessment requirements and working at height
requirement. Where ever practical we would recommend the use of an experienced
roofer to install the collectors (see www.nfrc.co.uk )
although collectors will require connection at roof level by a plumber, so
those wishing to carry this work out should be comfortable and experienced
working at height.
