Kitchen Fitting Course – 1 Week

A useful course for gaining the fundamentals required for kitchen fitting. During the week you will build confidence with materials and tools commonly used for the installation of kitchen units. The course also covers the basic plumbing faced in kitchens i.e. the inset stainless sink and basic electrics. This is achieved through a mixture of theory and practical.

Covering health and safety, working practices and PPE, good housekeeping and cleanliness. Also involving the safe use of tools and equipment, with electrical tools and their uses.

  1. Setting out and levelling units to a datum line
    Levelling to the highest point (units used are ready-assembled units which are adjusted by their legs).
  2. Cutting out worktop for inset steel sink
    (practice on plywood first); marking out carefully to avoid errors.
  3. Fix taps, waste and trap
    Connect to soil stack 32mm waste pipe.
  4. Practice scribing
    (plywood for practice) to irregular wall areas before scribing worktop.
  5. Cut and join worktop to 90°
    This involves using the Butt and Scribe jig to fit the top without leaving gaps.

What do I need to bring?

You will be required to wear steel-capped boots or shoes and overalls. All tools and other material will be provided for the duration of your course. Please bring a spare pair of shoes to change into at the end of the day.
